Valentine's Day

Well.... I love purple and "Bling Bling" ....here's a beret I made with spangles and Sugar n Cream cotton yarn. I designed it. Nothing spectacular but for my first try not too bad...

Bob and I went to San Diego for Valentines Day and stayed across from the marina there. It was nice, but I learned once I looked out the window of our room, why Bob picked this particular place.?...???... Guess why??? Yup...you got it...it was right across from the biggest FISHING marina where all the fishing fleet of boats are docked!! Ahh... men and their fish...

Anyways we walked around and I must say I learned a bit about these huge yachts that take our men out to sea...One of the boats was called the "Qualifier 105" I was told it is the largest of its kind. 25' wide...WOW!!! it was big too...

But the best thing was when we stumbled across the Soledad Veteran's Cross Memorial. Now that was breathtaking!! It has a360' view of San Diego from the ocean to the mountains and the memorial had so many plaques of soldiers. It is really worth seeing.
Has anyone else been there??
Well that's about it..just wanted to share my experience for Valentine's Day...oh yeah and I got flowers and a new gold heart for my charm bracelet from hubby, too....so...I guess I will forgive him for the hotel across from the sports fishing boats..we did have a great time there!!! :)

Hello Friends and Fellow Cro-Knit-oholics!!!!!

Its gone back to cool weather today after two days of warmth. My cold is getting better so figured I better get back on here and post a bit. I wanted to share my new Towel Topper I finished.

It really turned out pretty I think. I got the idea from a pattern I found by

Christinascrochethaven.com I changed it a bit and added my own little style to it.

I have been "surfing" the blogs and ran across several great ones that I have added as my favorites. I also got one of my Towel Topper Exchange boxes and boy did I get spoiled...:) My partner made me 2 beautiful Towel Toppers and lots of goodie....

My groups are starting their exchanges this month so if your interested in swapping and exchanges do check out http://groups.msn.com/CrochetFriendsandMore/_whatsnew.msnw and http://groups.msn.com/BookandBookmarkSwapGroup/_whatsnew.msnw because they have some fun ones happening.

What's New for Jan 2007?

Hello again,Well.... here we are in January 2007 I am still trying to finish my tote bag in knit with an Intarsia design[see photo]. Denise, from my Knit group, has been an enormous help by showing me how to use DP knitting needles and helping me correct my dropped stitches. At our last meeting she told me it was finally time to put the stitches on a cirular needle. Thank God! I find that this is one of the hardest projects I have tried to conquer. As most of you know I am an expert crocheter, knitting I am still, I consider, a beginner. So... now Denise is dreading each meeting as she sees me pull out my project! LOL!!!! But low and behold she is still there to help me through it all, and I say Hip! Hip! Hooray!!!!!..... to Denise for her teaching patience!!!!
Ok so I have tons of new yarn to share. Can you tell I love purple???
I am listening to the new Podcast on Cochetville. It is fantastic and if you have not heard it I highly recommend that you listen to it and join up with Crochetville! Be sure to go to www.Crochetville.org or click on the link on this blog.
Now for some news on my new groups. I have been busy starting some new groups that I feel will be a lot of fun and great experience in meeting new stitching friends and joining others in crochet alongs, swaps, and exchanges. Be sure to check out the links on this page or go to MSN groups for a great knit and crochet group of ladies! go to: Both of these groups are new and I am encouraging everyone to join if they love to crochet as I do. I am also excited to tell you about a Pen Pal group that in a short period of 1 week has grown so fast. The members love it and chat everyday on the message board. If you love to talk with other crafty people, or are looking for a Pen Pal then this is the group for you.
Oh.... I almost forgot my other hobby that I love just as much as I love to crochet. Its reading! Yup, I started a book group and I have some exciting exchanges, book swaps, Altered book round robins, and more coming up soon. So check out the group and join up now to get in on the fun! Go to:http://groups.msn.com/BookandBookmarkSwapGroup/_whatsnew.msnwNow I have just started to read "The Christmas Letters" by my favorite author Debbie Macomber. I just love reading her books, anyways, it is a fun read and I am enjoying the book. I also learned from a personal email conversation I had with Debbie last week that she is doing a book signing in San Jose and Sacramento for BACK ON BLOSSOM STREET during the 2nd week of June this year. I will definitly be there to meet Debbie. Funny story... I want to share with all of you. I was mistaken for her at a yarn shop I visited when the owner said to me, "oh yes" she remembered me, but that I had changed my hair? Another customer said, "oh yes you are the writer, but your was dark before?" I looked at both of them and looked confused when the owner, Candy, said "Oh my, your not the writer Debbie, your Debb from the knitting group." We all laughed and I couldn't wait to get home to look at Debbie's book, and sure enough.... change my blonde hair to brown and I could be Debbie Macomber's sister. So... I emailed and told Debbie and she said she looks forward to meeting me [her half-twin] at her next signing in June. So.... yes I will be there!Well that is about all today...Take Care to all and happy stitching!!!

Christmas Village

Here is part of my village I set up every year. This year I got the Fire house that is in the top corner and it blinks off and on and has 4 firemen figures. Who else has villages out there they would like to share photos with? I love building it every year and next year I plan to add a train.

Secret Pal Exchange Gifts 2006

This is part of my SPE gift I got from the Secret Pal Exchange [SPE] in December. You can't see it in the picture, but every hook has an engraving of a woed, Peace, Bless, Joy, and Love. Marie made this holder. Isn't it just beautiful? I want to thank her again for her beautiful gifts! You sure did spoil me Marie. And the felted stocking below was a real surprise. Didn't she do a grat job? I will hang it up every year!

This is one of my newer projects. It is my red purse tote. I have it laid out flat and I am not finished with it yet, but it will be folded in half and I will add a handle and line it. I used Boa yarn and Peaches n Cream red yarn and used a new "fan" stitch to get the design on this one!

This plate was a gift from one of my oldest and dearest friends, Darlene[or I should say "Big D' as I used to call her]. She sent this to me and it is really pretty and the saying of friends and family is really nice. I had to put it on the site so that everyone could enjoy it!

Purple Hobo Bag

Here's a purple "hobo" bag I just designed with its trimmings, I cannot decide yet which ones I want to use. I have the top rolled down, but I will probably keep it up for the handle to weave through. There are several flowal designs that I used all the way around. Every other one is sparkle yarn and plain purple.

Purple Beret

Here is a new Purple Beret that I just finished. I made it with my left over purple Peaches n Cream and spangles I had from one of my other projects. [ Red Hats color]

Another Project

This is part of my purple stash I have for a purse or scarf project I am thinking of making. Can you tell I like to work with purple.

Hello Kate

Hello Kate,
Great to hear from you and to know your a Long Beach lover as well! There is much to see in our town, and many crochet/knit lovers as well.

Thank you I too believe lining is the only way to go. What good is it to spend all the time in making a beautiful purse and not adding finishing touches.

I have a few more I have been working on and when they're finished I will add them as well. So, please do check back and let me know what you think.
Great to meet you, too.
