I went to Walking with Dinosaurs...WOW...is all i can say..it was fantastic and wonderfully educational. They were so life like and not only that but the sounds and the decor of the stage scenes were fabulous....see for yourself.....

After our luncheon we all gathered and drove over to Alamitos Yarn shop over in the marina...and of course I had to get something...so I bought something to use for a project for the up coming Craft Fair in November for our Red Hats group...this yarn was so nice to the feel...

1. What is your favorite pattern/project? Purses is my "fav" at the moment but I am now getting into socks. I love to design purses and try different colors. 2008: I am still working on bags and now also on shawls, I gave up for awhile on socks I am trying my hand with some bracelets and necklaces, and I think I want to tackle a sweater.
2. What project are you working on now? too many...I always have at least 5 going on at one time, right now its, a purse from Berroco, an ankle socks with Cascade[in the sock Kal], a heart book mark, aponcho with Caron simple Soft, and starting another Towel topper from the crochet a Day calendar patterns. Wow...still too many, a grocery bag, trying one in plastic, a tote bag, coasters, a bookmark, newest venture a necklace and some hair clips.
3. Who inspired you to start to crochet? My Mom...she was a very cafty person and I loved watching her so she taught me when I was about 9 yrs old. I am also inspired by my local group gals, there is so much talent in our group and I learn from all of them, especially about loving to stitch.
4. Are you in a local group? Oh of course I have my own group at Yahoo Groups, called Stitch n' Chicks. oh yes there are 12 of us now and I consider each of them a dear friend. I love to meet to learn from them and just to laugh. We just had our 1st annual "Yarn Summer" party, which was so much fun.
5. What is your favorite yarn? hmmm ..I love it all, but I love Caron Simple Soft Shadows.I love Egyption cotton, and also Daria yarn.
6. What type of hooks do you use? crystal clear and I just got some beautiful ones from an exchange partner that are ingraved with "Love" "hope" and Peace" oh yeah "Joy" too! I like them all but tend to lean towards the wooden ones mainly for comfort and the ease.
7. How big is your stash? oh my tons...too much to count... oh my is has grown I now have more and more and still not enough room to store it all, I need to finish some projects.. :(
8. Where do you keep your stash? I try to keep it upstairs in my sewing area but it is in my guest room and it has taken over there and in my office and livingromm, it would be better to ask "Where is it not??" It has expanded to the diningroom table and my computer room..oh my?
9. What is your favorite color? Purple, Pink and Burgundy I like the ocean blues too
10. Rate your crochet addiction from 1-10. wellll I would say 12!!! as I am a Crochetoholic!!!! :) Definitely a 12...I am still crocheting away...
11. Which would you rather be doing, crocheting, knitting, or watching TV? That is an easy one I do all of them...lol....in the house and out on my patio.
12. Where is your favorite spot to crochet or knit? I have to say on the patio out by my pond. I love to listen to the waterfalls and have the TV on Lifetime , of course, too...it is peaceful back there and the birds are singing and the trees sway in the wind...ahh and then I stitch on.....

Daughter got Married!!!!

My daughter got married last weekend on this beautiful boat. It was a wonderful ceremony and a very happy occasion. Her two daughters stood up along with my grandson, This is our family...

Here are the girls... :) and Here is the happy couple. They are off right now in the beautiful Caribbean on their honeymoon....

On my "quest" for more paterns of bags, I ran across a few great sites that offer not only the free patterns for their bags, clutches, and totes, but also tutorials on how to make the recyclable balls. I think "My Recycled Bags" is one of my favs. What a great idea and how easy and best of all no $$$$$$ what more can we ask for??? Check them out now......

DH and I went to the Angels game and they won!!! Yippy...it was a great game against Canada, and they were losing and pulled it out in the 9th inning...fireworks and all we were excited, especially since our friends got us box seats right behind the home plate with waiters and shade...I actually wore red by accident and found out I was wearing the right colors..DH wanted to catch a ball but didn't get a chance this time around...

New Projects Done

This is my

newest bag I finished with kitty material and it has lots of pockets and the closure is unique as it just is a sash that you flip over the handles to hold together...Very summery... :) It will be available in my store on Etsy and online soon.

I just found the cutest Lady Bug scarf and beret pattern over on cats-rockin-crochet . I am going to make it for my dearest friend Jayne for a Christmas present...never too early to make those gifts... :) We are ladybug friends and always give each other a little lady bug gift, this will be perfect...

Some Free Patterns and Fun Things to Make

Button Pin With Variations Crochet Pattern

Materials:

Small amount worsted weight yarn

Size H crochet hook

Button for embellishment (approximately 3/4" in diameter)

Small pin backSize: 2 1/4" in diameter

Rnd 1: Make ring (or ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring. I prefer the "magic ring" method), ch 2, 11 hdc in ring, join w sl st to top of ch 2, pull ring closed (12 hdc).

Rnd 2: ch 3, dc in same hdc, 2 dc in each hdc around, join w sl st to top of ch 3, fasten off (24 dc).

Variations: Rather than fastening off on Rnd 2, ch 100, sl st in same st to make necklace. Fasten off.

Or, ch 10, join w sl st in same st to form Christmas ornament. Fasten off.Weave in ends.

Glue button to front center. Let dry. Glue pin back to back if making pin. Let dry. Enjoy!

Recipe Card Crochet Pattern

Materials:

1 4"x6" recipe card

Small amount worsted weight yarn

Size H crochet hook

2 small ribbon flowers for embellishment

Hole punch

Step 1: Using hole punch, punch holes evenly around the entire card about 1/4" from card edge.

Step 2: Join yarn w sl st in any hole, ch 1, sc in same hole and in each hole around entire card, working 3 scs in each corner, join w sl st to first sc, fasten off.

Weave in ends. Glue flowers to card. Enjoy!

Wow what a great trip I had to Kentucky and TN....I love the countryside there and all the green and wonderful hills and the people are so friendly too....I took some good shots to try and capture the trip's highlights. :) Hobby Lobby paradise I loved it and the orchids below at the Gaylord hotel
